Take-back obligation for packaging - sustainable and sensible

A consistent take-back of packaging waste and its material-specific recycling are - in addition to a general reduction of packaging - the best way to preserve valuable materials and conserve resources.

The new Packaging Act (VerpackG) applies to all distributors who market packaging commercially in Germany for the first time (the so-called "manufacturers") - i.e. national producers as well as importers and online traders.

Reliable solutions for compliance with the new packaging law (VerpackG)

hpm takes over the licensing of sales packaging in combination with the optimal system solution for the customer. Our services include quantity recording, the takeover of operational processes and the legal verification of the sales packaging placed on the market and reported to us. As a company based in Osnabrück, we have a direct line to the "Central Packaging Register Office", also based in Osnabrück, for all questions concerning sales packaging.

At this central office, everyone - including your competitors - can see online whether or not you are registered as a licensee. There is absolute transparency in competition. That is why we recommend that you avoid any inconvenience from the outset and play it safe by registering in accordance with the law.

Background

The newly established foundation "Central Packaging Register Office" (Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister, or ZSVR) is entrusted with numerous official tasks within the framework of the Packaging Act, which came into force on 01/01/2019, and is subject to the legal and technical supervision of the Federal Environment Agency. Among other things, it is responsible for setting up and maintaining the LUCID packaging register. It is also responsible for checking whether the much higher recycling rates compared with the previous Packaging Ordinance are being adhered to and whether more packaging waste is being recycled.
